Obituary of Michael Joseph Edde

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Joseph Edde announces his passing Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the age of 60. Michael will forever be remembered by his devoted mother Frances Edde, brother William Edde (Melanie), sisters Dorothy Edde, Susan Lowenthal (Russell), Karen Collyer, and JoAnne Edde; nephews Brian, David (Mollie), Lucas, Alex, Josef, Nikolas, Daniel, and Bobby (April); nieces Laurie (Ainsley), and Megan; and longtime love Ann Newby. He was preceded in death by his father Harold. Born February 5, 1958 in Manhattan, Kansas, Michael grew up in a military family, travelling the country and making lifelong friends along the way. His heart was always on the Monterey Peninsula, where he settled and remained until his death. Michael grew up with a love for the outdoors, hiking local trails. He taught himself to play guitar, and enjoyed concerts and music festivals. Michael, while here on earth, was strong and persistent in the face of adversity. Despite his physical pain Michael knew no limitations and always lived life to its fullest in God's grace. Now his body is at rest and his soul continues on in the light of God's embrace…saving us all seats at the concert. Visitation will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary following from 6:00pm - 7:00pm, at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 303 Hillcrest Ave. Marina, CA. Interment will follow immediately after, at San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont Street, Monterey, CA, with refreshments after at Mission Mortuary.
