Obituary of William Thomas Valuch

Bill left for his eternal home in heaven on February 7, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Long Beach, CA, to William John Valuch and Margaret Louise Valuch. He graduated from San Pedro High School and San Francisco State University with a BS degree in Marketing. Bill served bravely in the US Army with tours in Vietnam and later was a drill sergeant stationed at Fort Ord, where he fell in love with the Monterey Peninsula. Bill worked for Prolog Corporation in marketing. He was later an entrepreneur, as co-owner of the Ventura Harbor Carousel, and the famed Popcorn Wagon at the American Tin Cannery, among others. Most recently, Bill was co-owner with his wife Rosemary and dog Maggie of Miss Trawicks Garden Shop in Pacific Grove, where they enjoyed their love of gardens and nature and forged many friendships in downtown PG. He loved all sports, especially tennis and golf. Bill was a long time member of Chamisal Tennis Club, where he met Rosemary and enjoyed many years of competitive tennis and friendships. Bill also loved spending hours in his vegetable garden at home in Carmel Valley and loved old cars. Bill leaves behind his beloved wife Rosemary, Stepson Philippe Costa, Stepdaughter Stephanie Costa (Brock) and his little love, grandson Bodhi Dickson, to whom he was affectionately known as Nunu, his mother in law Maryann Riso, brother in laws Vince Riso (Adele), Anthony Riso (Anastasia), Joseph Riso (Jennifer), as well as many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. A special gratitude to his Angel Claire and Dr. Robert's team at the VA Clinic, and to Dr. John Hausdorff for his many years of care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Central Coast in his memory. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held on March 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Corral de Tierra Country Club, 81 Corral de Tierra Road, Salinas. Please RSVP to carriedaway@sbcglobal.net if you plan to attend.
