Obituary of Rose Pfeifer

Rose (Dolly) Marie Pfeifer 1923 - 2013 Rose (Dolly) Marie Pfeifer, passed away on Nov. 5, 2013 surrounded by family. Born in Monterey on August 26,1923, to Salvatore and Angelina Melicia of Isola Della Femine, Sicily. She met the love of her life, Charles Pfeifer, at the USO in Monterey. They were married 64 years, until his passing in 2011. Rose was a longtime employee of Tostevin Accountancy. Upon retiring, she unselfishly gave of her time volunteering at CHOMP as an auxiliary member, the VA medical clinic, Oldemeyer Center, and San Carlos Cathedral bingo, to name a few. Rose's love for dancing was her passion. Nothing gave her more joy than to ball room dance in the arms of her husband or teach line dancing to those eager to learn, which she did so well into her mid- 80s. Rose never met a stranger or ever declined on offer to be of assistance. Her generosity, faith, love and commitment to family were an inspiration. Rose is survived by her children, Chuck (Hariann) Pfeifer of Scottsdale, AZ, Paula (Mark) Sindel of Salinas, Donna Pfeifer of Santa Rosa, Susan Pfeifer of Castro Valley, Mary (Al) Chambers of Austin, TX, AnnMarie Pfeifer Decker of Castro Valley; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Benech; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be on Sunday, Nov. 17th at 7:00pm at Mission Mortuary,450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, CA. Funeral Mass Monday, Nov. 18th at 9:30am at San Carlos Cathedral, Monterey, CA.
