Obituary of Barbara Johanna Reuther

Barbara Johanna Reuther passed away October 17, 2013, surrounded by family at home under her beloved oak tree. She displayed grace, kindness and humor to her many friends and family, always a smile on her face, during her long illness. Barbara was born in San Francisco, CA on April 28, 1964, to Hermann and Margaret Reuther. She attended Marin Catholic HS, and graduated from SF State University, with degrees in business and merchandising. Barbara was an extremely talented retail buyer, working many years for Papyrus, and currently for Service Systems Associates, at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. She traveled extensively looking for the next amazing gift for MBA visitors and members. Known for her detailed eye and keen sense of style, she wanted to make sure each purchase would truly support the mission of MBA, inspiring conservation of the world's oceans. Barbara's love of travel took her all over the world, experiencing white sharks in South Africa, Monkeys in Bali, markets in China, temples in Mexico, and extensive visits to Europe, particularly with family in Germany. To her dear friends here, and from all corners of the planet, who have always been there for Barbara, you are true angels. Barbara is survived by her husband Brad Fleming of Monterey, CA, her mother Margaret and brother Eric, of San Rafael, CA, extended family in Germany and Canada, predeceased in death by her father Hermann and brother John. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASCPA, Animal Friends Rescue, or VNA Hospice. Burial was private.
