Obituary of Shirley Nancy Camacho

Shirley Nancy Camacho, aged 77, of Marina, California, passed away on September 4, 2013 after a strong battle to recover from heart surgery. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose L.G. Camacho. She is survived by her six daughters and their families: Terry and Bob Thomas of Pebble Beach, CA; Cheryl and Dave Wong of Carmel Valley, CA; Cathy and Greg Balaban of Monterey, CA; Robin and Steve Michell of Lake Oswego, OR; Kelly and Henry Maravilla of Roseville, CA; and Tracie and Grant Seibold of Beaverton, OR. A loving grandmother to 14, her grandchildren are (in birth order): Rachel, Stephen, Christopher, Jennifer, Kimberly, Stephanie, Michelle, Ryan, Sara, Kevin, Lauren, Hannah, Lindsey, and Claren. Shirley was born on Feb. 15, 1936 on the Big Island, Hawaii. She met Joe while he was stationed at Schofield Barracks on Oahu and they married on August 4, 1956. They shared many travels during their life in the service, including time spent in Fort Ord, and chose to make their permanent home in Marina, California. Fond memories include her feisty spirit and strong family connection, her generous heart, and the way she expressed her love by putting others needs before her own. A devoted wife, nurturing mother, and doting grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, CA, on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 3 p.m.
