Teresa Isabella Pinto

On September 18, 2022, two weeks before her 89th birthday, beloved wife, mother, and sister, Teresa Isabella Pinto (née Saldanha), passed away peacefully in Monterey, CA. She was surrounded by her loving family during her last days. Teresa is survived by her husband of 66 years, their three daughters, four grandchildren, two sons-in-law and her sister.

Born to Martin and Anna Maria Saldanha (née D’Souza), Teresa studied at St. Agnes College in Mangalore and developed a gift for numbers. With her family, she lived in London, England, Mumbai, India and for the past 52 years in Toronto, Canada.

She advanced her career while raising a family and became a role model offering guidance to many.  Teresa was devoted to her immediate and extended family, and was active in her community helping new immigrants settle in Canada. She was a good friend and confidante, and generous in sharing her knowledge. She was humbled by the service careers chosen by her grandchildren.

Teresa was an outstanding cook and well known for her mastery of traditional Mangalorean specialties. She loved people, cooking, gardening and maintained her keen intellect with daily crossword puzzles and sudoku.

Her funeral and viewing will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022. The viewing is from 8AM to 9AM, and the funeral mass is at 9:30 AM local Pacific time at San Carlos Cathedral, The Royal Presidio Chapel in Monterey, CA.
